Someone once said that advertising – or was it copywriting? – is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. That’s a pretty big statement, but it is true that if you are passionate about what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. Apart from when you have to attend the odd brainstorming session with that account handler who thinks he knows everything, maybe.
I love writing. But copywriting is more than that. It’s ideas and word conundrums, people and products. It’s getting the right level of thought and adding a visual and contextual slant to it.
Every working day as a copywriter is different, every client is as important as the last. The best praise is when you are re-booked by a company. It’s better than a big smiley pat on the back. Sure, it’s a thrill to see your words on a bill board or looming up at you from a website, but the sense of satisfaction when a client books you for their next copywriting job is also a great feeling.
It’s time I started blogging about my freelance copywriting adventures. So here it is. I’ll be back in five. In the meantime, if you’d like someone to write your blog for you, please get in touch.
